You may also opt to be an owner builder.
We can also do house and land packages and have access to good builders.

What do we mean by Energy Efficient Homes?
Passive solar design is a standard feature of all our designs.
This is a technique which is essential for human comfort and should be incorporated in all house designs.
This includes generous (800mm min) overhangs, excellent cross ventilation with a minimum of two openings in each room where possible, well insulated roofs, designed to capture local breezes, designed to exclude summer sun, and suited to the orientation of each block.
With good design, air conditioning should rarely if ever be required (only on those extreme days with no air movement).
Though air conditioning can be installed if requested.
With this type of design our homes achieve a 7-10 star rating for energy efficiency- well over the standard project home average of 3.5 stars.
From here you can go as far as you wish by adding things such as rainwater tanks, solar HW systems and power, grey water recycling, sewerage treatment systems etc.
Houses can be lightweight or concrete block construction and are easily constructed by your builder.

Sophie is President of the BDAQ NQ Branch. She studied Architecture at Sydney University achieving honours awards for excellence. After this she worked at the City of Sydney on the team redesigning Sydney for the Olympics. She has spent the past 6 years designing houses in the tropics for Queensland’s most renowned building designer ‘Chris Vandyke’. Her vision is to reshape the project home market by creating affordable environmental designs that look good and are great to live in!
